Marching Show 2017

The Grenada High School Band has long been a crowd pleaser locally, but they are also known as tough competition around Mississippi and surrounding states as well. Each year, the band puts its pride on the line as they step up to the plate at competitions around the South.

The GHS band is very excited about this year's upcoming contest season which will include the following competitions:

• Saturday, October 14, Region II Marching Festival - Grenada High School
• Saturday, October 21, Hoover Invitational - Hoover, Alabama
• Saturday - Sunday, October 28 – 29 Lake Charles Toyota Gulf Coast Marching Band Festival – McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana
• Saturday-Sunday, November 4 – 5 Old South Marching Festival and Competition - Newnan, Georgia.

This year's show, entitled If You're Reading This . . ., tells the story of couples in love separated through various wars. While the men deal with the pressures of war and battle, the women keep the home fires burning as they enter the workforce, provide comfort to their men through letters, and offer anything and everything necessary to ensure that the soldiers maintain the hope that they will return home safely.

The four movements in the show consist of:
• Declaration of War
• Leaving for Battle
• While the Boys are Away
• Coming Home or Not

Drum majors for the Grenada High School Band are Shaunna George, Shelby Moorman, and Ella Simmons. The band appreciates the support of its fans at home and away football games. Fans are also invited to come and watch the upcoming local marching festival held at GHS Charger Stadium.

Who's got the best band? WE DO!!!
