Graduation 2016

Graduation – the Encarta Dictionary defines it as: 1. Completion of studies (the completion of a course of academic study; the number of credits required for graduation) 2. Degree ceremony (a ceremony in which degrees or diplomas are awarded to students who have successfully completed their studies.

This Friday, May 20, 2016, what could possibly be the largest class of graduating Grenada High School seniors will not only know the definition of graduation, they will experience it firsthand. These seniors, who began kindergarten in 2003, have not only grown taller, they have grown wiser. They realize the value of an education, the importance of working towards a goal, and the fact that their lives are turning a corner onto a new path.

Many of the GHS graduates will enter college this fall. Some will even begin classes this summer. Others will immediately join the local workforce or will relocate to other towns to begin this new portion of their lives.

To the Class of 2016 - the possibilities for your future are endless. You made it! Graduation is a tremendous accomplishment. Not only have you followed a plan through to fruition, you have met a huge goal that will help you soar to the next level. Your parents and teachers have given you the tools to go out into the world and make your mark. As you take that final walk across the field at Charger Stadium, reflect on the years you have spent in the Grenada School District. There will be times you will remember for the rest of your life and times you wish you could forget! Each of these events has helped mold and shape your life thus far. As you move ahead towards adulthood, new experiences will transform you even further.

Use what you have learned from your parents and teachers to make wise decisions. The choices you make now will affect the rest of your life. Choose to plan for the future. Choose to do your best. Choose to make the most of every moment. The future can either be amazing or daunting, the choice is yours.

Congratulations, Class of 2016! That tassel - it WAS worth the hassle!
