Homecoming 2017

Grenada Charger Homecoming festivities galloped into the Grenada School District today with the annual Charger Olympics. Held in the Grenada High School gym, the Olympics ignited GHSl students' school spirit as each class fielded a team for competition in wacky games. Teams consisting of three guys and three gals from each class plus a teacher team went all out as they vied to win not only bragging rights but the coveted gold horseshoe medals awarded to the top squad. Stay tuned next week for the results!

Each year, the Grenada School District sponsors several activities in conjunction with Homecoming. Beginning with the Olympics and ending with the annual Homecoming game and crowning of the Homecoming Queen, the activities are designed to foster school spirit and camaraderie among the students. Each day of Homecoming Week is designated as a "dress-up" day. Beginning tomorrow, this year's days are Tacky Day (dress in tacky combinations of clothing), Pro or College Jersey Day (students may wear their favorite school or pro jersey with uniform pants - Thursday), and School Spirit Day (students dress in Grenada School District t-shirts and uniform pants – Friday). No hats are allowed during dress-up days.

Friday morning the big day begins with a donut tailgate breakfast at GHS. Thanks to all the parents and staff who made this event possible!

On Friday afternoon, the annual Homecoming game begins with the Homecoming Parade at 6:20p.m. Participants will line up at the GHS "B" building, and then proceed in front of the stadium, entering on the opposite end. Homecoming maids will exit vehicles at the 50-yard line on the visitors' side and proceed directly onto the field for the crowning ceremony where one of the Senior maids will be crowned Homecoming Queen. The 2017-2018 Homecoming Maids are (Freshmen) Ja'Kaila Ammons, Kayla Herrington; (Sophomores) Anna Hurd, Braylee Shaw; (Juniors) Jenna Coker, Iyonna Harges; and (Seniors) Erin Hill, Madison Martin, and Lyric Watt.

The gates of Charger Stadium open at 5:30p.m. for the Homecoming Festivities. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7:00p.m., following the 6:30p.m. Homecoming ceremony. Tickets are $6.00 at the gate. Come out and enjoy a great evening of parades, pageantry, football, and fellowship with your fellow Grenadians!
